Try a different mirror site like wuarchive.wustl.edu, or oak.oakland.edu.
At the Unix prompt, type the following lines:

ftp oak.oakland.edu
anonymous                      (when asked for login name)
- your email -                 (put your e-mail address as password)
bin                            (binary mode, necessary for downloading)
cd pub/msdos
dir

When you type "dir", you'll find plenty of directories like c, turboc,
small-c, basic, qbasic, visualbasic, along with many general shareware
directories.
